Some Things to Think About… The Next Time You Hear Bush Bashing

The next time you hear someone say “Bush should never have started this war!  Iraq never attacked us!”  Politely (or not 🙂 ) remind them that FDR lead us into WWII, in the process, declaring war on Germany.  Germany never attacked us… Japan did.  Did that make it wrong?

The thing to remember is that, say what you will about going in the first place, who do you want to run Iraq?  The Iraqi’s or the Iranians?  If we left post-haste, Shiite militia’s under the like of al Sadr rule the day.  With the current state of affairs in Iran (where al Sadr is currently living under protection), allowing them to take control of Iraq could lead us into a World War that makes WWII look like Wrestlemania.  What’s better?  Pay as you go, or pay later with penalties and interest a la the Ayatollah…

… yea but FDR didn’t set us up to pay for both sides of the war. I believe this is the first time since our US civil war that we are paying for both sides of the destruction. Sorry I’m wrong, our kids and their kids will be paying for this war. Bush is putting it all on a tab, along with the economic stimulus package… while at the same time bailing out banks. Is this not nuts? And the Iraq oil is not helping. I don’t think we’re getting any of it for ‘liberating’ those Iraqis.

FYI… a barrel of oil at the time this Bush administration took office was about $28. As of today, April 22, 2008 oil hits $118 for the first time.

And speaking of bail outs: the US oil companies are still getting subsidies while posting their largest profits the past two years. Again… is this nuts!!

Another note; 7 or 8 years ago it took 6+ euros to buy one dollar. How it takes about $1.60 to buy one euro.

We are no longer a producing – saving nation. We are a consuming – borrowing nation. How long could your personal accounts last with this type of economic pattern?

We didn’t pay for both sides during the war, but we payed for the reconstruction for sure… (The Marshall Plan). I agree full on with your economic analysis, but would argue that oil prices have 0% to do with the adminstration, and 100% to do with futures trading. As long as we’re buying it, they’re gonna keep trading it and running those prices up. Energy prices, not real estate, are going to be the downfall of our economy if something drastic isn’t done.

    Hi Stickee,
Your comments sound like you might be from the blame-America group, maybe even the Ron Paul group too? Everything you stated has occurred since the Dem Congress & Senate took over…including the high gas prices. I thought they campaigned on fixing Big-oil with Big-Gov…Well I guess they got the later right! $3.1 trillion 2008 budget. Spending is an act of Congress not the Pres.

The War…It’s not about liberating Iraq…It’s about a beach-front and fighting Terrorism there instead of here…just think if we pull out. They’ll be civil war in the whole Mid-East region like never seen before, lead by those fine folks from Iran. Then you’ll see what comes home to the US mainland, and what the Bush admin has been preventing from happening here! Most with your take don’t know just how good you really have it!

The Euro (devalued dollar)…another fine example of too much Gov involvement, instead of letting the free-market mandate! The Fed-Reserve bank gets the blame there!

Gas prices…The answer is drilling for our own oil and stopping Ethanol production, which is starving the poor folks in third world countries. Global-warming-Hoax, Collectivist & Progressives are to blame for most of what you stated…Not the Bush admin! If Big-oil was allowed to drill in our own reserves and build new refineries their profits and the pump prices would be lower. They’d be reinvesting in the American owned oil fields (Anwar) not third world countries…Then the rest of the world oil producers prices would come down too…Brazil just discovered 300 Bil barrels (off shore 7 miles down) and plan to ship 40% to the US…Liberalism in America is the true enemy!

A government big enough to give you everything…is big enough to take everything away!

    John
