Some Doors Only Heaven Can Open

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I received this via email and thought that it needs to be shared with as many as possible:

Obama Anointing Prayer for Walkway to Inaugural Stage

That was the case yesterday when I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to do something that in my mind I knew could not be accomplished. When we notified the Capitol Hill police of our intentions they told us in no uncertain terms we would be arrested for our actions. Yet, in obedience to what I knew to be a divine prompting, I proceeded, along with my colleague, Rev. Pat Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition, to the Capitol Building …and there experienced a miracle.

It just so happened (as it so often does for people of faith), when we entered the Capitol complex we met Congressman Paul Broun of Georgia , in the hallway. Congressman Broun is a dynamic and unapologetic Christian. I told him what God had prompted me to do. He immediately agreed and joined me, along with Rev. Mahoney and our chief of staff, Peggy Birchfield, as together we held a prayer service inside the US Capitol that included anointing the doorway President-Elect Barack Obama will pass through on his way to the platform to be sworn in as the 44th president of the United States on January 20th.

Anointing with oil is a rich tradition both in the Bible and in the history of the US Capitol. Oil symbolizes consecration, or setting something apart for God’s use. George Washington used oil during the dedication of the US Capitol. We used the oil to set apart the walkway and doors that will be the literal right-of-passage for Barack Obama as he ascends to the highest office in our land. Bear in mind this is one of the most cordoned off and highly secured sites in America . It is virtually inaccessible. Yet, there we were, holding a consecration service in obedience to God – the very thing He had placed in my heart.

Rep. Broun delivered a short sermon-like talk on the need to obey God and His will, and for the future president to do what is right. I read Bible passages and applied sacred oil to the doorposts of the arched doorway leading out of the Capitol and onto the inaugural stage, immediately in front of the riser where Obama will stand with Chief Justice John Roberts who will administer the Oath of Office. Rev. Mahoney read a powerful inaugural prayer by Dr. Billy Graham, delivered 40 years ago.

Congressman Broun referred to the location of the prayer service as “the doorway that (President-Elect Obama) will enter through to start of his presidency.”

That doorway has now been consecrated and anointed for the purposes of God.

You and your friends, family, and fellow church members can now join us in prayer for our nation and the transition to a new administration by simply watching the video and praying with us.

The more people who watch this video, the more powerful it becomes. That’s why we also need you to forward it on to as many people as possible.

If Christians across the nation will join together in prayer, I know God will “hear from Heaven and heal our land.”

Please watch this amazing video yourself by clicking here

“Under God” pastor dead at 97

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

ALEXANDRIA, Pa. – The Rev. George M. Docherty, credited with helping to push Congress to insert the phrase “under God” into the Pledge of Allegiance, has died at 97.

Docherty died on Thanksgiving at his home in central Pennsylvania, according to his wife, Sue Docherty.

She said her husband of 36 years had been in failing health for about three years.

“George said he was going to live to be a hundred and he was determined,” she said in a telephone interview Saturday. “It’s amazing that he was with us this long.”

Docherty, then pastor of the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, just blocks from the White House, gave a sermon in 1952 saying the pledge should acknowledge God.

He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and was unfamiliar with the pledge until he heard it recited by his 7-year-old son, Garth.

“I didn’t know that the Pledge of Allegiance was, and he recited it, ‘one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,'” he recalled in an interview with The Associated Press in 2004. “I came from Scotland, where we said ‘God save our gracious queen,’ ‘God save our gracious king.’ Here was the Pledge of Allegiance, and God wasn’t in it at all.”

There was little effect from that initial sermon, but he delivered it again on Feb. 7, 1954, after learning that President Dwight Eisenhower would be at the church.

The next day, Rep. Charles G. Oakman, R-Mich., introduced a bill to add the phrase “under God” to the pledge, and a companion bill was introduced in the Senate. Eisenhower signed the law on Flag Day that year.

President Obama…how long before buyers-remorse sets in?

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Hi Friends,

Well, it’s taken me a little time to think thru what I believe we’ve just seen play out in this election. I’ll start by acknowledging the horrible campaign McCain (not a conservative) ran and I hope and pray we are finally finished with RINO’s at this point in the Republican Party. He was never my choice in the primaries anyway, but I did vote for him…President Bush (not a fiscal-conservative) and Governor Schwarzenegger, in my State, a Democrat playing the part of a Republican Hollywood style, who are some of the problems in the party…I’m supporting Michael Steele as the new RNC leader for the rebuilding project of the “Conservative-Republican Party”. [NO] more Rockefeller-wing liberals like the Ford’s, Bush 41’s, Dole’s or McCain’s…they lost for a reason! They were democrat-lite. It was too hard to tell the difference so, why not get the real democrat a full-bodied demagogue?

So, we placed a mere mortal like Obama in the highest office in the free world, while painting him to be the all-powerful “Black Jesus”? I believe as it turns out that’s a bit like shooting an ant with an Elephant gun. Talk about over-playing your hand and setting yourself up for a fall! As hindsight shows, McCain was easier to beat than that. Now, Obama has to live up to the mythical god-like image he’s presented himself to be – Everything the man stood for on the campaign trail was a fabrication and slight of hand… he lied about everything in his past that would prove what he truly is. How long will it take for the buyers-remorse to set in? Most American’s are still right of center – I’m betting not long! Proposition 8 and the 80% against the Bailout Bills show us the right-of-center leanings.

It does make you wonder what kind of hypnotic trance Obama has been able to place on so many mindless-people. The man ran a campaign on sheer rhetoric and bumper sticker sloganeering, while saying so many things, without really saying anything. Still the culture of the fully immersed and willing victims followed him like some kind of “pied-piper” leading the rats to the trap. I’ve heard folks this weekend interviewed who actually believe he’s going to cut taxes and do things different! (What?) No, I’m not forgetting my highly educated friends who follow him like the savior descending from heaven. Which is an interesting analogy to apply to the “academic elites”, because most of them tell me they don’t believe in a heaven or hell…for that matter most of them don’t believe in God either. They…like Bill Maher or Keith Olberman (who claim to be “rationalists’’, what a joke that is!), are the great all-knowing psuedo-intellectual crowd we witnessed thru this election (Obama’s 20% plus acknowledged liberals as exit polls reported)…Now that the “elites” believe the 1960’s big-brother revolution has finally gotten under way; we better look out for the “Orwellian volunteer militia” coming to a neighborhood near the metro centers of the country (prop 8 riots anyone?)!…Oh, one little detail…President Obama has said, “he wants the volunteers armed equal to the military”. Gee, was Orwell’s 1984 simply 25 years off? Why are gun sales setting records…hmmm I wonder?

I just can’t get over good solid thinkers like Peggy Noonan falling for such an American-Idol-style fabrication that Obama is. It’s stunning that even Peggy has succumbed to the tell-them-everything while saying-nothing-deceiver. This man is everything he’s lied about being…if anyone with any kind of sense thinks he didn’t launch his campaign in William Ayers living room, then I have an unfunded bridge-to-nowhere for you to donate to! He is the complete “Marxist” that research on him proves he is. Obama supporters say “he had to lie because that’s what Chicago politics is all about”… “He had to pretend he was a kindred spirit to the Wright’s, Ayer’s and Pfleger’s to get inside the Chicago machine, that’s simply how it works”, they say…I guess that’s why he followed the Marxist Guru of community organizing, Saul Alinsky too? Oh sure, and I’m moving to Arizona so I can have beach front property when California falls into the Pacific.Okay all that said…in spite of what some are saying about how he’s their president now…maybe I’m a true “Maverick” – because I’m not willing to support a president who stands for everything that the “new new-deal” will give us. Which will make this country unrecognizable in a few short years! Socialism isn’t a new premise. It has failed everywhere. America is no exception to human nature that causes it to fail. We’ve been flirting with it since FDR. Obama, Pelosi & Reid’s socialism could be the final full-blown advanced version, the likes of which the world has never seen…Strap in!

Pastor Bill Keller says it best:

“Now I know most people will listen to a message like this and just roll their eyes. They will say let me get back to my TV program, I’m too busy, what has this got to do with me. Well that’s the problem. We can’t even see the signs that God is showing us. We’ve become so spiritually blind, so spiritually deaf, that we can’t even begin to see what’s happening right before our eyes.”

Catholic Church cuts off ACORN funding

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

By Drew Griffin and Kathleen Johnston
CNN Special Investigations Unit <
http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/siu/(CNN) — The Roman Catholic Church is cutting off funds to the community organizing group ACORN, citing complaints over its voter registration drives in the November 4 election as part of the reason.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development froze its contributions to the group in June amid allegations that Dale Rathke, the brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke, had embezzled nearly $1 million.

This week, as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops met in Baltimore, Maryland, the campaign’s chairman said it was cutting all ties with the group.

“We simply had too many questions and concerns to permit further CCHD funding of ACORN groups,” Roger Morin, the auxiliary bishop of New Orleans, Louisiana, told his colleagues in a letter to the conference.

The CCHD has donated more than $7.3 million to ACORN-related projects over the past decade, including $40,000 to an ACORN chapter in Las Vegas, Nevada, that was raided before the election in an investigation into fraudulent voter registration forms. Among other questionable documents, the ACORN chapter submitted registration forms for members of the Dallas Cowboys football team.

ACORN contends it has tried to help head off election fraud.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/09/acorn.fraud.claims/index.html“In nearly every case that has been reported, it was ACORN that discovered the bad forms and called them to the attention of election authorities, putting the forms in a package that identified them in writing as suspicious, encouraging election officials to investigate, and offering to help with prosecutions,” ACORN said in an October 9 news release.

Morin said a church review completed in November found ACORN no longer met standards of further funding.

The reported embezzlement dates back several years, but was only recently disclosed to ACORN board members and donors. Morin said the registration fraud complaints “raise additional serious concerns.”

“Non-partisan voter registration, especially in poor communities, is important and needed work. Too often, poor voters are not registered or are not encouraged to participate in the vital choices that affect their families and communities,” he wrote. However, he said, the ban on donations to ACORN won’t be lifted “until and unless it is clear that CCHD funds will not go to an organization that has engaged in unlawful activities or voter registration fraud.”

In a statement to CNN, ACORN Executive Director Steven Kest said his group is grateful over the church’s <http://topics.cnn.com/topics/the_roman_catholic_church>  funding in the past.“We look forward to continuing discussions with CCHD officials and the bishops in the months ahead in hopes that we can continue working together on projects, which have been so important to so many in low-income neighborhoods across the country,” Kest said.

However, Ralph McCloud, the Human Development campaign’s director, said the church has “severed ties” with ACORN and there are no plans for further discussion at this time.CNN’s Marcus Hooper contributed to this report.

America Asks for a King

America asks for a king

by Laura Hollis

I am an attorney and professor of law and entrepreneurship, so I usually confine my commentary to matters of public policy, and leave theology to those who have chosen that field of study. But since today is Sunday, I will take the liberty of making an observation with a more Biblical bent.

As one who has taught entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking for nearly ten years, I am distressed by the apparently overwhelming sentiment sweeping Americans that they must now be taken care of. I know from years of studying the matter that a society in which most members are – or can be – entrepreneurial, is a society where upward mobility is the rule; where wealth is created – not just “spread around”; where hope is common currency; where the inevitable problems are viewed as opportunities to find sustainable solutions, and where those solutions are typically new industries, new companies, and new jobs. An entrepreneurial society is a society where most people wish to, and know they can, take care of themselves, their families, and even others in need. Where charity and philanthropy are fellow-travelers with success.

Joe the Plumber’s exposure of Obama’s “spread the wealth” philosophy exploded like a flash fire, not only because that philosophy is utterly anti-American, but because it is shortsighted, and immoral. It is short-sighted, because in an economy that is a bit battered and fragile, what we need are more businesses, more workers, and more wealth creation in the private sector, not more government programs and more people dependent upon them. It is short-sighted because it is a failed business model. And, as we saw with the collapse of major lending institutions a few weeks ago, a failed business model, made larger (or “spread around,” if you prefer) by government, is not just a failure, but a catastrophic failure. So it was with the irresponsible lending practices foisted on American banks by the government, and so it will be with the irresponsible spending and doomed reliance on government largesse that Obama and the Democrats are peddling as salvation.

And the inevitability of its failure is why Obama’s philosophies are not just foolhardy, but immoral. It is immoral to deceive well-meaning people about what you intend to do with their money. It is immoral to take by force from those who produce, give to others who do not, and call it “charity.” It is staggeringly immoral to create an ever-larger class of dependent, helpless people who will be doomed to starve when the unsustainable system you have created collapses. And most of all, it is profoundly immoral to set yourself up as a secular messiah of sorts, assuring people that you will take care of them, eliminate hardship, heal the planet, and hold enemies at bay by the sheer force of your own hypnotic rhetoric.

Obama’s economic and social theories have been debunked and disproven (at great human cost) so many times over the past 100 years that it’s laughable anyone still believes in them. But at least his designs on the country are understandable. Those who crave power will use any tactic, as long as it works.

It’s the fact that it’s working that is inscrutable to me. And this is where the Biblical references come in. Americans’ attitude toward this posturing, self-important, political zealot remind me of the Israelites’ demand for a king, as recounted in the Book of Samuel:

When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as judges for Israel. The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba. But his sons did not walk in his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice. So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.” But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD. And the LORD told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected Me as their king. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking Me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.” Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots … He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.”

But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.” When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. The LORD answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.” (1 Samuel 8:1-22)

The comparisons are telling: Americans are understandably fed up with corruption, greed, and perversion of justice in our leaders. But till now, we have asked for no king, because we could take care of ourselves, and because we have always been a godly people. But look around now – our children languish in failing, crumbling, unsafe, and undisciplined schools, many of which are merely bastions of social experimentation. Our cities are riddled with crime. Our families are devastated by divorce, abuse, illegitimacy, absent fathers, and definitions of “marriage” that fluctuate with the sexual predilections du jour. Our culture – books, films, music – is saturated with violence and perversion that even the smallest child is exposed to. And of course, one cannot forget – the high watermark of freedom and femininity, and the litmus test of liberty for the Left is the unfettered right to kill our own children in our wombs (or leave them to die outside of them).

This is what we, as a nation, have brought ourselves to. These are problems that no amount of social spending will cure, and any promise to do so is a lie, because no amount of money will change people’s hearts. And yet, instead of reaching deep within ourselves to find the solutions, we now whine and mewl for someone to save us.

And here he comes, Barack Obama, on a “righteous wind.”

As with anyone who would be king, Obama will take our money and our property in ever-larger amounts. Our children will be saddled with debt and beholden to a bloated government that will enslave the very people it promised to help. We will be at the mercy of our enemies. And no matter how bleak or desperate our own lives becomes, the leaders in Obama’s government will always thrive; such people always do. Nor is any of this is unique to Obama; it is in the nature of every king, and every government, which is why our government was originally set up to be limited, both to protect us, and to ensure our own self-reliance.

John McCain will not be a perfect President. But it is not necessary for the leader of a free, righteous, and entrepreneurial people to be perfect. I can support John McCain because he asks only that I vote for him, not that I worship him. And I will vote for John McCain on November 4th, not because he would be a better king, but because he does not claim to be one at all.

Neither McCain nor Obama is a king who will save us; we must turn instead to the only One who can.

Lame Christian Media is Culpable for Our Cultural Corruption

Monday, October 13th, 2008

If our nation goes down the secular crapper, then I lay a lot of the blame on the limp-wrist Christian media. Yep, I condemn Christian TV, Christian radio stations and Christian publishers that have the power and the audience to pump truth to the masses but have instead chosen to peddle spiritual candy rather than the unvarnished verities that the church and our nation need.

As far as I’m concerned, if Christians don’t speak, sing or write to the serious issues of their day then they’re about as useful to us and to God as teats on a boar hog.

Pathetic.

Aside from Dobson and his crew at Focus and a smattering of other luminaries, you don’t hear many of the overt Christian writers or talking heads speaking even mildly to the sassy secularists who are hell-bent on wrecking this land.

What’s the matter, ladies? Are you afraid you’ll lose your love offerings, your BMWs, or your 501(c)(3)? It’s unbelievable to me how these “Christian” corporations can be silent, for whatever reason, in this raging cultural war. You, sir/ma’am, are a disgrace to your post. Good luck at the judgment seat.

Y’know, I appreciate O’Reilly, Hannity, Beck and others who go to bat on behalf of Christian principles, but it would be kind of nice to see some more pastors in that mix also. Ted Nugent brings more truth to the table than most pastors and priests do on radio, TV and in print.

Again, I’m glad for Bill, Sean, Glenn and Ted’s defiant input, but the insane silence amongst the brethren, especially the boys who run the so called mega-churches, to me is both pitiful and immoral. No matter how you want to slice your silence, Christian ministers and corporations, your mute mouth is cowardice of the highest order and a betrayal of our nation’s Christian heritage.

Being in the radio business and an author myself, here’s why I believe these various industries have put forth generic voices rather than specific punches: They don’t want to offend anybody. They have been converted into thinking that being Christ-like means being nice and eating whatever slop the secularists shovel down their throats. Political correctness has clipped their ‘nads and their vocal chords. Therefore, they won’t let anyone name names, they won’t allow the talent to get raw, they can’t permit a rowdy sense of humor, and they will not encourage men to be men about the issues lest someone . . . God forbid . . . get offended.

Here’s a big FYI to the boys in charge of these various vapid corporations: You’re more like Neville Chamberlain than you are like Jesus Christ, who would not pawn flapdoodle off on his friends, followers or foes. He could not turn a blind eye to that which was antithetical to his person and his work. He couldn’t do it. He was married to the truth. What are you married to?

Cash?

Praise?
